Qantas to Buy Eight 787s

Australian carrier Qantas has signed a letter of intent with Boeing for eight 787-9 aircraft.

Australian carrier Qantas has signed a letter of intent with Boeing for eight 787-9 aircraft. The 787s are scheduled to arrive in 2017 and will replace five of Qantas’ 747s in the fleet.</p>The airline has also seen a reversal in its financial fortunes, posting a net profit of $557m for the year to June 30, compared to the record $2.8bn loss it posted a year ago. Qantas attributed its profit to lower fuel prices and its efforts to make $2bn in savings as part of a restructure.
