Qantas has taken a controlling stake (51 per cent) in Taylor Fry, an Australasian analytics business, which took revenues of AUS$12m ($9.3m) in the 12 months to June 2014.

Taylor Fry, which will be run as a separate business, retaining its existing name, brand and premises, helps companies understand their data and provides a range of insurance actuarial services.

The acquisition will expand Qantas Loyalty’s data and analytics capability.

The company’s CEO, Lesley Grant, said Qantas Loyalty, best known for its frequent flyer programme, was diversifying into “big data”.
