Ramped Up Security Focuses On Devices

Passengers flying direct to the US may have their cell phones and tablet computers confiscated if the devices will not power up. Last week the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) asked some airports in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to implement enhanced security measures following intelligence of a threat, but did not release details of the new checks. Yesterday (July 6), the US authorities confirmed that if during security checks passengers electronic devices do not switch on, they “will not be permitted onboard the aircraft”.
