Record Operating Profit At Air Astana

Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, has reported an operating profit of $97.7m for 2014, an increase of 35 per cent on the previous year and the highest in the company’s 13-year history.

Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, has reported an operating profit of $97.7m for 2014, an increase of 35 per cent on the previous year and the highest in the company’s 13-year history.

However, confirmed net profit fell by 62 per cent to $19.3m, which the airline attributed to a one-off re-evaluation of external debt of $49m caused by the devaluation of the Kazakh tengue last February.

In publishing its annual results for 2014, Air Astana also confirmed that passenger traffic rose by three per cent to 3.8 million, but revenue fell by three per cent to $932.9m.
