Royal Jordanian has posted a JD21 million ($29.5m) net profit for 2015, a reversal of the previous year’s JD49.5 million ($69.7m) loss.

The flag carrier partly attributed the turnaround to its restructuring plan, which aims to make changes in all areas of its operations up to 2019.

Royal Jordanian said the strategy's effectiveness was reflected in cutting operating costs for last year by 22 per cent, amounting to JD559 million ($788.1m) in 2015 against JD715 million ($1bn) for the previous year.

Part of the reductions included shutting down eight global stations and cutting the size of its fleet.
