Ryanair Posts $1.1bn H1 2015 Profit

Low cost-carrier Ryanair has recorded a profit of €1bn ($1.1bn) for the first half of 2015, a year-on-year rise of 37 per cent.

Low cost-carrier Ryanair has recorded a profit of €1bn ($1.1bn) for the first half of 2015, a year-on-year rise of 37 per cent.

During the period, Ryanair said traffic numbers rose 13 per cent to 58 million while its load factor jumped four percentage points to 93 per cent.

The results have led to the Irish airline raising its profit forecast for the year to between €1.1bn ($1.2bn) to €1.2bn ($1.3bn).

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said: “We have enjoyed a bumper summer due to a very rare confluence of favourable events including stronger sterling, adverse weather in northern Europe, reasonably flat industry capacity and further savings on our unhedged fuel.”
