Scottish Independence A ‘Risk’, Says Aer Lingus

The possibility of Scotland gaining independence from the UK is on Aer Lingus’ “risk register”, confirmed CEO Christopher Mueller, ahead of the referendum today (September 18). “It will shake up the great relations between Britain and Ireland due to currency exchange,” warned Mueller, adding that he wished the airline had focused on contingencies years ago. Speaking at the World Low Cost Airlines Congress on Tuesday, Mueller said that Aer Lingus gets a great deal of its traffic from the UK and while it predicts good passenger figures this year, a break up could affect traffic in the future.
