US carrier SkyWest Airlines has placed a firm order with Embraer for 18 E-175 aircraft.

The order, which will be included in Embraer's 2015 third-quarter backlog, has an estimated value of $800m based on the current list prices.

In a statement released on Monday (September 14), Utah-headquartered SkyWest confirmed it had amended its capacity purchase agreement with United Airlines to add the aircraft to fly under the United Express brand.

Embraer said delivery of the first E-175 to SkyWest is expected for 2016 with orders set to be completed by mid-2017.
