A detailed flight route for the first round-the-world flight made without any fuel has been released.

A detailed flight route for the first round-the-world flight made without any fuel has been released.

Following 12 years of feasibility studies, design and construction, the Solar Impulse 2 (Si2), a single-seat solar-powered aircraft, will travel 35,000km during 25 days spread over five months, stopping at 12 locations.

Si2 will take-off from Abu Dhabi, UAE, in late February or early March and return by late July or early August 2015.

The route includes stops in Muscat, Oman; Ahmedabad, India; Mandalay, Myanmar; and Chongqing, China.
