Southwest 737 Belly Flops As Landing Gear Collapses

Ten people were hurt as the landing gear on a Southwest Airlines 737 collapsed during touch-down at New York's LaGuardia Airport yesterday (July 22). The aircraft, which had 143 passengers and six crew on board, skidded off the runway on its nose. Passengers were forced to exit the aircraft using emergency chutes. The airport was shut temporarily, but later opened, although scores of flights were cancelled. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
