Southwest Implements Airplane Health Management

Southwest Airlines is to use Boeing’s Airplane Health Management software system to improve the efficiency of its maintenance and engineering operations. The system will collect and evaluate operational data while Southwest's aircraft are in flight. The real-time data can then be used to signal to ground operations crews maintenance issues that need attention prior to the aircraft landing. This will minimise flight schedule disruptions and maintenance-related delays. The system will be implemented on 737NGs.
