The Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) has revoked Iraqi Airways’ traffic permit to operate flights between Iraq and Sweden due to the airline’s poor safety record.

The ban has been imposed with immediate effect on Iraqi Airways after it failed to secure a Third Country Operators certificate, a mandatory certification issued by EASA for airlines wishing to operate within the EU.

According to local media reports, Transportstyrelsen spokesperson Simon Posluk confirmed that the decision to recall the traffic permit was based on Iraqi Airways' failure to meet EASA’s requirements.
