Tiger Airways has agreed to sublease a dozen A320s to Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo in an effort to reduce excess capacity and lower leasing costs.

Previously operated by either Tigerair Philippines or Tigerair Mandala,Tiger will deliver the aircraft over a six-month period commencing this month.

Each aircraft will be subleased between three and four years and, with the exception of one, all are due to be returned at the end of their respective sublease periods.

Following their return, seven of the 11 will re-join Tiger’s operating fleet, while the remaining four may be “progressively re-introduced back the service network” within two years, the airline said.
