TransAsia Airways it to cancel 90 flights and send all of its ATR pilots for retraining after the fatal crash of flight GE235 in Taiwan last week.

Under orders from Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administrations (CAA), TransAsia will send 71 pilots for proficiency tests for around four days.

As part of its inquiry, the CAA has also ordered engine and fuel system checks on the remaining 22 ATR aircraft in service in Taiwan.

Investigators said the crash, which killed at least 40 of the 58 people on board, was caused by both of the aircraft’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines failing to produce enough thrust.
