Turkish Airlines flight TK726 slid off the runway while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu this morning (March 4).

The A330 aircraft was landing in dense fog completing a flight from Istanbul when the incident occurred at just after 2am (GMT).

All 223 passengers and 11 crew were evacuated from the aircraft, with one passenger who was “slightly injured”, according to a statement from Turkish Airlines, taken to hospital.

The carrier has confirmed that a “technical examination” will be carried out to determine the cause of the incident.

According to reports in The Telegraph the aircraft’s landing gear collapsed causing it to “nose-dive” onto the runway.
