United Airlines has said that it has reached a tentative agreement with its mechanics union over pay.

Following more than three years of talks with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, United confirmed in a statement on Friday (October 23) that an agreement had been reached and will now go before its 8,600 mechanics for ratification.

The Chicago-based airline didn’t provide any details of the agreement, but according to Dow Jones Newswires, a United employee memo said that the tentative agreement includes a 25 per cent increase in the highest hourly rates for mechanics and a 33 per cent increase over the course of the deal's six-year term.
