MAC Aero Interiors has achieved AS9100 certification for high quality aerospace system requirements following procedure review by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. Preparation for the certification involved all areas of the business applying requirements for the AS9100 quality management system, including the re-writing and implementation of procedures.
Following AS9100 certification, MAC Interiors hosted a team of three assessors from Airbus GmbH and Airbus Operations UK to carry out the Airbus Industrial Process Control Assessment. The assessment focused on controlling processes during the production of Airbus products supported by MAC Interiors’ supply chain and operations areas. The assessors gave MAC Interiors a credible “high” grade C and identified areas for improvement within an agreed action plan.
According to Rolandas Rekašius, CEO of MAC Interiors, work has already begun on the company’s next steps to transition to a new revision of AS9100D next year. The UK-based interiors provider, which provides products such as galleys, lavatories, seats and stowage for clients including Airbus, Emirates and Virgin, recently expanded its facilities this past August. The expansion has allowed for new capabilities, such as 3D printed aviation parts, several seating overhaul projects and the installation of barcode scanning for operations across the shop floor.
