Eirtech Aviation Services has designed and manufactured a cargo loading system (CLS) cover for Airbus A320 family aircraft that the company says will provide a safer surface for bulk loading of passenger luggage and cargo. Composed of lightweight aluminum cover panels, the system cover is installed over the existing CLS to provide a flat cargo floor, which is a safer for baggage handlers to walk on and prevents luggage from potential damage when placed directly onto the CLS. The company says the cover solution is the lightest on the market and can be supplied with EASA and FAA approvals.
The cover solution can be installed on a temporary or permanent basis, so airlines can easily remove it at any time. Eirtech says the cover takes approximately 16 man hours to install or remove with short lead times.
Eirtech has already supplied the cover solution to a number of global airlines and leasing companies and says there are many more on order for 2018. The cover solution will be installed on an A319 for an undisclosed European airline this month.
