AAR Signs Commercial MRO Partnership With KAI

AAR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with defence manufacturer Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to establish a commercial aircraft MRO facility in South Korea.

AAR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with defence manufacturer Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to establish a commercial aircraft MRO facility in South Korea.

As part of the contract, AAR will consult KAI on best industry practice and focus on growing KAI’s commercial MRO services to third party customers and airlines.

The two parties confirmed they are also considering operating the facility under a joint venture.

Sung Yong-Ha, CEO of KAI, said: “KAI has a vision for expansion, and AAR, with its expertise and global reputation as the world’s leading independent provider of airframe maintenance, is the right partner to help us transition successfully to the commercial side of the business.”
