Romanian MRO Aerostar is completing its third installation of split scimitar winglets (SSWs) on a 737-800 aircraft owned by the TUI Travel group.

Romanian MRO Aerostar is completing its third installation of split scimitar winglets (SSWs) on a 737-800 aircraft owned by the TUI Travel group.

The firm claims to be the first independent MRO in Europe to complete the procedure on the 737-800, after retrofitting SSWs to two TUIFly Nodic aircraft recently.

Aerostar is now installing SSWs on one of TUI Airlines Belgium’s fleet of 737-800s alongside a performing a heavy maintenance check, and is set to complete the same service on a second aircraft in the coming weeks.

The service is being completed at Aerostar’s facility in Bacau, north-east Romania.
