Aircalin, the New Caledonian airline, has signed up for Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare aftermarket coverage after ordering the Trent 7000 engine to power two of its Airbus A330neo aircraft.
A first time Rolls-Royce customer, Aircalin formally announced the deal with the British engine giant on Tuesday (Dec. 5).
The terms of the agreement include a parts availability option which Rolls-Royce said guarantees the customers on-site parts provision along with the necessary tools worldwide.
As the exclusive engine option for the A330neo, the Trent 7000 combines elements of the classic A330’s Trent 700 with newer widebody engine types the Trent 1000 TEN, which entered into service last month, and the Trent XWB for the A350.
Aviation Week’s 2018 Fleet & MRO Forecast projects the biggest order demand for the Trent 7000 will emanate from the Asia-Pacific region, with its estimated backlog of 154 orders accounting more nearly half of all orders for the engine type.
