Ameco has carried out its first Sharklet retrofit on an A321 aircraft at its facility in Chengdu.

The work, carried out on April 14 for an unnamed airline, was for replacing the triangular-shaped wingtip devices on the aircraft with Sharklets.

Ameco launched its retrofit services programme in 2015 and has since gained CAAC approval for A320 Family aircraft.

In addition to the Sharklet work in Chengdu, the Chinese MRO also said it has begun performing winglet modifications on Boeing manufactured aircraft at its Beijing base.

The first modifications started last month for an undisclosed carrier’s three Boeing aircraft with winglet installation already completed on one of the aircraft.
