US-based MRO Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services (AMES) has completed the installation of split-scimitar winglets on a 737-800 for Canadian carrier Sunwing Airlines.

The modification, which improves the aircraft’s fuel efficiency, was undertaken at AMES' facility at Wilmington Air Park, Ohio in mid-December, alongside other maintenance inspections.

Sunwing claims to be the first airline in Canada to install split-scimitar winglets.
