Air New Zealand (ANZ) has signed a contract to provide heavy maintenance for New Caledonia carrier Air Calédonie on its fleet of four ATR aircraft.

Air New Zealand (ANZ) has signed a contract to provide heavy maintenance for New Caledonia carrier Air Calédonie on its fleet of four ATR aircraft.

Under the terms of the agreement, ANZ’s regional maintenance division will carry out the work on three ATR 72-500s and one ATR 42-500 aircraft at its facility in Nelson.

The flag carrier established Air New Zealand Regional Maintenance last year offering turboprop maintenance for carriers in the Australasia region and the Air Calédonie contract marks its first with an international carrier.

Air Calédonie CEO Samuel Hnepeune said: “The close proximity of New Caledonia to New Zealand, together with the world-class facilities offered in Nelson and experienced turboprop engineers is a good proposition for our airline.”
