China Eastern is to use Boeing’s airplane health management (AHM) data system on 270 of its aircraft to monitor and optimise its maintenance operations.

The AHM system, which notifies maintenance crews of any potential issues while an aircraft is in flight, has already been installed on 157 of the carrier’s fleet of next generation 737s and will be rolled to 250 in total.

China Eastern is also set to use the monitoring software on the 20 777-300ER aircraft that it currently has on order.
