World-leading cargo sales and services provider ECS Group has bought Scandinavian firm Heavyweight Freight (HWF).
HWF employs 23 people at its bases in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland and sold around 20,000 tonnes of freight capacity in 2013 on behalf of airline partners, including Air Canada, DHL Aviation, Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines.
Bertrand Schmoll, ECS Group’s chairman and CEO said it was the excellence of HWF’s management that had convinced him to make the acquisition. “ECS Group’s strategy is to strengthen its expertise and airline relationships by working with the best people in this business,” he said.
“Putting flags on a map or simply gaining market share is not a satisfactory nor a sufficient goal.” ECS Group’s existing Scandinavian subsidiaries are Nordic GSA and Universal GSA.
