Emirates Signs $16bn GE9X Engine Contract

Emirates has signed a 12-year contract worth $16bn with GE Aviation for MRO services on the GE9X engines powering its fleet of 150 777X aircraft.

Emirates has signed a 12-year contract worth $16bn with GE Aviation for MRO services on the GE9X engines powering its fleet of 150 777X aircraft.

The airline, which said the deal announced at the Dubai Airshow on Monday (November 9) is its single largest engine MRO contract, will be covered by GE’s OnPoint maintenance programme.

On the same day, Emirates also signed a 12-year OnPoint solution contract with GE worth $36m covering maintenance and inventory support for avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems on all Emirates-operated 777 aircraft currently in service as well as 44 more 777-300ERs on order.

David Joyce, president and CEO of GE Aviation, said: “The OnPoint solution agreement will allow us to provide comprehensive MRO support along with OEM parts and work scopes to ensure the engines remain in peak operating condition.”
