Russia’s Engineering Holding, the parent group of S7 Engineering, will open a second CFM56-5B/7B engine repair facility located at Mineralnye Vody airport by late 2017.
The new center for the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 engine option will be established at the existing S7 Engineering site at the airport.
A similar move was made last year to establish its first CFM56 facility at Domodedovo airport, located 40 miles from Moscow with Swiss maintenance provider SR Technics.
A statement released by Engineering Holding says the decision to add another facility was demand-driven.
Roman Federov, Engineering’s deputy general director for finance, said: “Unfortunately, we had to decline a number of potential orders because the demand for our engine maintenance services after we launched the facility proved considerably higher than its capacity.”
Russian airline customers for the Domodedovo facility include Aeroflot, Nordavia, Rossiya, UTair, and S7 Airlines.
