Esterline Avionics Systems has signed an agreement with French MRO specialist Sabena technics to distribute the Esterline CMA-6800 LCD display to operators of ATR 42 and 72 turboprop aircraft.
The contract will make the product available for retrofit on ATR operators principally located in Europe.
Based on an active matrix liquid crystal display, the CMA-6800 is form, fit and function replacement for Honeywell ED-800 Cathode Ray Tube displays.
Alain Colin, vice president, production at Sabena technics, said: “The product offers significant improvements in reliability and weight, and it lowers the life-cycle costs to operate the EFIS. The upgrade can be performed quickly, with no retraining required and with minimum disruption to aircraft operations.”
Esterline said that since entering the market in early 2016, 250 of the LCD displays have been delivered to customers.
As of January 2017, it has approvals for installation in more than 10 aircraft types and holds certifications from the FAA, EASA and Transport Canada.
