The FAA is asking for MRO practitioners to comment on its draft advisory circular (AC) 65-30B; “Overview of the Aviation Maintenance Profession”.

The FAA is asking for MRO practitioners to comment on its draft advisory circular (AC) 65-30B; “Overview of the Aviation Maintenance Profession”.

The new AC provides updated information and statistics on MRO career opportunities, including salary expectations, industry outlooks, certification requirements and application procedures. The draft AC also revises military occupation codes for practitioners wanting to credit military maintenance experience towards FAA mechanic certification.

While welcoming the update, the Aeronautical Repair Station Association said there room for improvement. “Woefully missing from the update are many present-day realities and resources that have come into existence since the AC’s original publication in 2001,” it stated.

Practitioners wanting to comment have until September 10.
