FAA Issues STC For Crane’s ‘SmartStem’ System For Learjets

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the ‘SmartStem Wireless Tire Pressure System’ from Crane Aerospace and Electronics which is designed for use on Learjet 40 and 45 aircraft. ‘SmartStem’ replaces an aircraft’s existing tyre inflation valve stem and communicates pressure, temperature and other stored information wirelessly to the handheld reader. Valve cap removal is not necessary during the process, avoiding loss of gas during routine tyre pressure checks. The system is already certified for use on a range of other business jets.
