Airbus has endorsed Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (GAMECO) as a center of excellence in China for the A380 aircraft in recognition of maintenance services carried out on China Southern Airline’s fleet of the superjumbo.
GAMECO has carried out line and base maintenance services including modifications on China Southern’s A380 fleet since entry-into-service in 2011.
In that time period, the Guangzhou-based firm has completed 14 C-checks on the aircraft along with 26 undisclosed engineering orders.
The company said it is now preparing for the upcoming six years checks on the A380, scheduled to take place in 2017.
Norbert Marx, general manager of GAMECO, said its specialist capabilities for the A380 – for which it holds CAAC and EASA approval – were developed by fostering a close partnership with the OEM.
