GE Aviation And LHT To Create Engine Overhaul JV

Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GE Aviation to create a new engine overhaul joint venture (JV) specialising in GEnx-2B and GE9X engines.

Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GE Aviation to create a new engine overhaul joint venture (JV) specialising in GEnx-2B and GE9X engines.

Under the terms of the MOU, signed yesterday (June 15) at the Paris Air Show, the two companies will create a state-of-the-art overhaul facility in Europe where it will perform MRO services on the 747-8 and 777X engines.

Johannes Bussmann LHT CEO said: "The combination of the know-how of a leading manufacturer and the extensive experience of one of the world's leading maintenance organisations will mean the highest in quality and cost advantages for our airline customers."

The JV is expected to be operational in 2018 following regulatory approval.
