Regional carrier Germanwings is to trial zonal drying systems on two of its A319 aircraft after placing an order with CTT Systems.

The Lufthansa subsidiary said it aims to quantify weight savings generated by the technology, which controls humidity levels onboard an aircraft, during a 12-month trial.

CTT claims its zonal drying system can save around 150-200kg by removing moisture from an aircraft’s insulation blankets, resulting in reduced fuel burn and emissions.
