Indian Airport Staff Strike

Thousands of staff at Airport Airports Authority of India have started a hunger strike to protest against the privatisation of Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Lucknow airports. The three-day strike involves employees from all the airports and follows a decision in September to offer private investors full equity stakes in the airports under a public-private partnership model. All of the airports have already received public investment for modernisation and upgrade work.
