South African airline Safair has agreed a deal for Lufthansa Technik to provide its Total Component Support (TCS) programme support on up to five 737 aircraft operated by its low-cost carrier (LCC) FlySafair.

The contract, which commenced from April 1, also includes FlySafair having access to spare parts pool.

LHT said the contract strengthens its presence in Africa where it already has agreements in place with the likes of Kenya Airways, RwandAir, South African Airways and SA Express.

Safair’s LCC subsidiary began operating in 2014 and travels to six domestic destinations from its hub in Johannesburg.
