Liebherr-Aerospace Opens New Titanium Facility

Liebherr-Aerospace has recently opened its new 260m2 centre for machining titanium parts, at its facility in Lindenberg (Germany); the facility will also work with other parts such as hydraulic valve blocks for the electric back-up hydraulic actuator (EBHA) of the A380 programme. The new centre includes a shelf magazine accommodating 80 pallets and an external tool storage and distribution system for 700 tools. The new technology on offer at the facility was developed over the course of three years through an aerospace research project with the Institute of Manufacturing Technology at the Laboratory of Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of the RWTH Aachen University (Germany). The investment will cost an estimated €2.7m.
