Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has signed an agreement with Malaysia Airlines to establish an MRO joint venture servicing A320 and 737 aircraft.

The centre will be based at Malaysia’s existing facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and will offer base maintenance services for the narrowbody aircraft once operational in 2017.

In a statement released today (May 25), Lufthansa Technik said the set up of the JV remains subject to approvals from regulators and the signing of definitive agreements.

Johannes Bussmann, CEO of Lufthansa Technik, said: “Once this new joint venture becomes true, we will extend significantly our MRO capabilities in one of the most emerging markets worldwide.”
