Massive Southwest FADEC Repair Deal

Southwest Airlines has selected BAE Systems and Sagem to provide MRO services for the full authority digital engine controls (FADEC) on more than 450 CFM56-7-powered 737 aircraft. Under the five-year agreement, BAE Systems will perform the services through FADEC International, its 50-50 joint venture with Sagem, part of the Safran group. “By minimising the turn times of FADECs, we have been able to reduce our spare pool over the life of the fleet,” said Bill Tiffany, Southwest’s VP supply chain, in a statement.
