Monarch Wins Icelandair Base Maintenance Deal

The UK-based MRO provider will carry out services for airline’s Boeing 757 cargo aircraft.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering has signed an agreement to provide base maintenance services on Icelandair’s Boeing 757 cargo aircraft.

The C-check is schedule to take place at Monarch’s Luton facility from the end of October 2017, work that will take approximately three weeks to complete, according to the MRO.

Monarch says the contract with the new customer was agreed before its airline affiliate group entered administration on Oct. 2.

Previously, Monarch has carried out line maintenance work on some of Icelandair’s 757 fleet having signed an agreement back in 2011.

A spokesperson for Monarch says it hopes to find further expansion opportunities with Icelandair in future.
