German firm MTU Aero Engines is reportedly in discussions with seven Iranian airlines to provide MRO services on their ageing fleets.
Speaking to Germany’s Euro am Sonntag, MTU chairman Reiner Winkler said MTU had “great interest” in supporting Iranian airlines with maintenance services.
"In Iran, a lot of Western-manufactured aircraft engines are in use which has an elevated demand for maintenance," he added.
With international sanctions on Iran expected to be lifted in the coming months, a number of commercial aviation firms are expected to seek opportunities in the country.
Earlier this month, it was speculated Iran could buy as many as 90 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft annually once sanctions are eased.
