Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is to build a new de-icing facility as part of a $14.4m upgrade programme.

The new facility will allow aircraft to de-ice closer to the runway, as well as include a more environmentally friendly collection system.

The project, which received a $10.8m contribution from the FAA, is due to begin before the end of the year and is scheduled for completion by summer 2015.
