New LHT Fooring Granted STC for Embraer Aircraft

German-MRO Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has been issued a supplemental type certificate (STC) to install its new lighter GuideU floor path-marking system on E170 and E190 aircraft.

German-MRO Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has been issued a supplemental type certificate (STC) to install its new lighter GuideU floor path-marking system on E170 and E190 aircraft.

According to LHT, changes it has made to the marking system have reduced its weight by 35 per cent – saving the equivalent of 15kg on an A380.

The MRO claims that its GuideU is now the world’s lightest and flattest floor path-marking system and the first non-electrical system that can be worked into “virtually any shape”.

GuideU markings absorb light from the cabin and can remain lit for up to 22 hours.

According to LHT, GuideU is “completely maintenance free” after installation and can remain in place throughout an aircraft’s life.
