Indian low-cost carrier (LCC) TruJet started operating on Sunday (July 12) with a maiden flight from Hyderabad to Tirupati, while confirming plans to open a new component MRO facility at Hyderabad airport by the end of 2015.

Indian low-cost carrier (LCC) TruJet started operating on Sunday (July 12) with a maiden flight from Hyderabad to Tirupati, while confirming plans to open a new component MRO facility at Hyderabad airport by the end of 2015.

The LCC’s parent company Turbo Airways, which is investing a total of INR500 crore ($80m) in the venture, said it has already applied to Indian aviation authorities to gain approval for the MRO base.

The airline started operating with a fleet of two used ATR 72-500s on lease with plans to add an additional three aircraft in the next few months.
