Optech4D, Purdue Team Up For Augmented Reality Testing

Optech4D, a provider of 3D virtual and augmented reality technologies, has confirmed a partnership with Purdue University’s Hangar of the Future Research Laboratory exploring the impact of augmented reality on the aviation industry.

The student-led, faculty-mentored program will see the research arm of the Aerospace and MRO Technology Innovation Center use Optech4D’s Vision4D platform to improve aircraft maintenance and ramp operations during the spring 2017 semester.

“Imagine a technician walking up to the aircraft and having access to current maintenance records, repair guides, work instructions and other relevant data specific to the aircraft through augmented reality technology – that’s what Vision4D provides,” says Vincent Higgins, CEO of Optech4D.

Timothy Ropp, director of the Aerospace and MRO Technology Innovation Center at Purdue University, adds that a shared commitment to leveraging technology makes the partnership with Optech4D a good fit for Indiana-based Purdue.
