US-based conversion specialist PacAvi has completed the first pre-modification tests its A320/A321 passenger-to-freighter (PTF) conversion programme and said a critical design review is scheduled to take place “in a few weeks from now.”

Jens Strahmann, PACAVI’s vice-president of product certification, quality assurance, tests and evaluation, confirmed the update on Monday (March 14) and it follows the completion of a preliminary design review in December 2015.

San Diego-based Pacavi began the supplemental type certificate development in January 2015 and expects both the A320 and A321 to gain certification by 2017.
