Mitsubishi Aircraft has named PEMCO World Air Services as its preferred MRO partner for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), giving the US aftermarket specialist approval to service North American operators of the Japanese aircraft.

The agreement between the parties was confirmed on Tuesday (July 12) and PEMCO will now provide an airframe MRO offering for the MRJ with services including applicable letter and heavy checks, structural repairs, modifications, and warranty work.

Mitsubishi Aircraft said that following a selection process of potential partners, it chose Florida-headquartered PEMCO based on the quality of its standards and operations. The aftermarket specialist said it will work with Mitsubishi Aircraft to help North American operators of the 70-90 seat aircraft drive efficiencies and minimize costs.

Peter Turner, deputy head of customer support division, Mitsubishi Aircraft, said: “These qualities reflect and align with our principals of customer support that we are implementing throughout our organization as we prepare for entry into service.”

To date, the PW1000G-powered MRJ has received in excess of 400 orders, a figure including options and purchase rights.

The aircraft, manufactured near Nagoya Airport, undertook its maiden flight in November 2015 and remains on track for a mid-2018 delivery to launch customer All Nippon Airways.
