Around 100 jobs could be at risk at GE Aviation’s engine overhaul and repair facility in Nantgarw, Wales, as a result of declining sales.

In a statement yesterday (January 20), a spokesperson for the OEM confirmed that it had forecast a fall in work in 2015 and as a result was considering “a range of options” to cut costs, including reducing overtime, changing shift patterns and a potential voluntary redundancy programme for “aircraft engineer grade employees”.

GE Aviation is to work with union Unite to review its 2015 business plan and decide how to move forward.

The Nantgarw facility currently employs around 1,350 staff.
