Regulatory Update, Jan 15-22

A rundown of the latest FAA and EASA-issued airworthiness directives.

FAA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2017-01-08 for certain A330-200 Freighters, -200s and -300s and A340-200s, -300s, -500s and -600s, requiring repetitive inspections of the hydraulic fluid levels and nitrogen gas pressure in the HR for each hydraulic circuit, and if necessary, adjustment of the fluid level(s) and nitrogen pressure in affected HRs, effective February 10, 2017.

FAA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2017-01-01, superseding Airworthiness Directive 2014-05-25, for all RB211-Trent 970-84s, -Trent 970B-84s, -Trent 972-84s, -Trent 972B-84s, -Trent 977-84s, -Trent 977B-84s and -Trent 980-84s, modifying the inspection schedule for affected engines and adding an optional terminating action, effective January 26, 2017.

FAA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2016-26-06 for certain 787-8s, requiring inspections of certain stringer fittings, replacement if necessary and replacement of certain fasteners, effective February 15, 2017.

FAA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2016-26-07 for certain 747-100s, 747-100Bs, 747-100B SUDs, 747-200Bs, 747-200Cs, 747-200Fs, 747-300s, 747-400s, 747-400Ds, 747-400Fs, 747SRs and 747SPs, requiring modification, inspections and corrective actions of the nose wheel body structure, effective February 15, 2017.

EASA has superseded Airworthiness Directive 2016-0164 dealing with Zodiac cabin crew seats with Airworthiness Directive 2017-0001, requiring repetitive Inspections, replacing if necessary seat pans or temporarily stowing of seats, effective January 20, 2017.

EASA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2017-0003 for RB211 Trent 700s, requiring a one-time fluorescent-penetrant inspection of certain compressor intermediate cases and repair if necessary, effective January 23, 2017.

EASA has issued Safety Information Bulletin 2016-19R1 for Honeywell Mode S Transponders, recommending modification of installation in accordance with applicable Honeywell Safety Bulletin.

EASA has superseded Airworthiness Directive 2014-0123 with Airworthiness Directive 2017-0006 for RB211-535E4-37s, RB211-535E4-B-37s and RB211-535E4-C-37s, all serial numbers, requiring replacement of each Group 1 affected part, effective January 24, 2017

EASA has issued Airworthiness Directive 2016-0249, for A300B4-603s, A300B4-605Rs, A300B4-620s, A300B4-622s, A300B4-622Rs, A300C4-605R variant Fs, A300C4-620s, A300F4-605Rs and A300F4-622Rs, requiring modification of the upper frame feet fittings in accordance with the instructions of Airbus Service Bulletin A300-53-6125 Revision 04, effective December 28, 2016.

EASA has issued Proposed Airworthiness Directive 17-001 for Fokker F28 Mark 0100s, serial numbers 11244 through 11527, with exceptions, requiring inspection of the panel of each affected passenger service unit and checking for correct application of the sealants and other actions, effective 14 days after Airworthiness Directive is issued.

EASA has issued Proposed Airworthiness Directive 17-002 for all Jetstream 3100s and 3200s, requiring inspection of Main Landing Gear for cracks in accordance with the instructions of BAE Systems Service Bulletin, effective 14 days after Airworthiness Directive is issued.

EASA has issued Safety Information Bulletin 2014-32R1 relating to alleged examination fraud at the Part-147 Maintenance Training Organization Hellenic Aviation Training Academy, recommending that holders of a Part-66 license issued on the basis of academy exams not use these licenses.

EASA has issued Proposed Airworthiness Directive 17-004 for A350s, requiring accomplishment of all applicable maintenance tasks before exceeding the applicable thresholds and, thereafter, within intervals specified in the applicable ALS and other actions, effective 14 days after Airworthiness Directive is issued.
