A rundown of the latest airworthiness directives.

CASA

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia has issued a discussion paper 1610AS to consider the most appropriate very high frequency radio band for pilots to use at low level in Class G airspace. Please forward responses on the online response form by April 28, 2017.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia’s notice of consultation 1702AS on amending Part 139 Manual of Standards for reduced taxiway and taxilane separation is available for comment.

Minor amendments have been made to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia’s advisory circular 147-02, v5.9 on approved Part 147 training organizations.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia has issued notice of final rulemaking 1209AS on new precision instrument approach operations

EASA

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-0041 for A330s, requiring replacement of affected parts of engine hydraulic damper, effective February 24, 2017.

FAA

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-04-13 for all 747-8s and 747-8Fs, requiring repetitive inspections for heat damage of the vapor seals between the engine strut and aft fairing, and replacement of the seals with new seals if necessary, effective April 3, 2017.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-02-01 for certain Trent 1000-As, 1000-Cs, 1000-Ds, 1000-Es, 1000-Gs and 1000-Hs, requiring initial and repetitive inspections of affected high-pressure turbine blades for cracks, effective March 14, 2017.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-04-08 for certain 737-100s, -200s, -200Cs, -300s, -400s and -500s, requiring repetitive inspections for cracking of a certain splice of the fuselage, other actions and inspection to determine if the existing frame repair meets requirements, effective April 3, 2017.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-04-10 for A318-111 and -112 , A319-111, -112, -113, -114 and -115, A320-211, -212 and -214, A321-111, -112, -211, -212 and -213 requiring inspection for, and replacement of, non-conforming aft engine mount retainers, effective April 3, 2017.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-03-03 for certain Trent 500s, reducing inspection intervals on low-pressure fuel tubes, fuel tube clips, and fuel/oil heat exchanger mounts, effective March 17, 2017.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-02-05 for all 737-100s, -200s, -200Cs, -300s, -400s and -500s, requiring repetitive inspections for cracking of the fuselage skin assembly and the bear strap at the corners of the aft entry and aft galley doorways and repair if necessary, effective March 14, 2017.

The U.S.’s Aeronautical Repair Station Association and other aviation firms have asked FAA to extend the comment period on Draft Advisory Circular 43-ARTS, “Use of FAA Form 8130-3 for Approval to Return to Service Under Part 43.”
